Information relating to digital water depth data within HKSAR 
 
Thank you for your application under the Code on Access to Information via 
email.  Your application was referred by the Civil Engineering and Development 
Department to the Marine Department (MD) on 24.8.2020 and I am writing to reply as 
follows -

You requested for "shapefile of digital water depth data" shown in a public 
report published in 1999 by the then Civil Engineering Department 
(https://www.epd.gov.hk/eia/register/report/eiareport/eia_1252006/html/eiareport/Part
1/Images/Figure4.7.jpg).  Please note that the MD was not involved in the 
preparation of the drawing and does not possess the information about the data source 
of this drawing.    Pursuant to Para. 1.14 of the Code on Access to Information, the 
Code does not oblige departments to acquire information not in their possession or 
create a record which does not exist.

If you wish to obtain the latest water depth information within Hong Kong 
Territory based on our published paper nautical chart 
(https://www.hydro.gov.hk/eng/papercharts.php) or Electronic Navigational Chart 
(https://www.hydro.gov.hk/eng/ENCWeb/www/aboutenc.php), kindly note that they 
are already made available for public at the sales outlet of the MD 
(https://www.hydro.gov.hk/eng/salesoutlets.php).
