Immigration Department

Our reference: L/M (39) in ImmD RALOS/6-20/3/C

Dear Ms Li,

Thank you for your email dated 23 August 2018 enquiring about
non-refoulement claims situation by end of June 2018.

Drawing reference from our previous reply of 20 June 2018 on the same
matter, as of 30 June 2018, among the non-refoulement claims rejected by
the Immigration Department (“ImmD”) under the Unified Screening Mechanism
(“USM”), around 6 500 claimants had lodged an appeal or were those who are
within the 14-day time limit for lodging an appeal, 4 300 claimants had
left Hong Kong or were pending removal, and removal arrangement for the
remaining 2 300 claimants would be made in due course.  The ImmD does not
have further breakdown for the question (ii) in your e-mail.

I hope you will find the information useful.

Best Regards,

(WONG Kin-kwok)
