GIS Data Request
Dear Census and Statistics Department,
GfK Geomarketing is part of GfK Group, a global market research company with headquarters in Germany. We offer the world’s largest selection of digital maps of postcode and administrative boundaries. Companies from all branches of trade use the geographic information provided by digital maps as a basis for analysis and important business decisions.
In that regard we would like to request the shapefile for large street block group and integrate it in our global map set.
We would appreciate very much your permission to use this shape file for our products. Of course we would provide an attribution to Census and Statistics Department in naming it as source of the data.
Please inform me if our request is compliant with your terms of use or any other regulation.
Yours faithfully,
Li Zeng
Dear Li Zeng,
I refer to your request for gis shapefile data made under the Code on
Access to Information on 26 September 2017. Our reply is provided below.
Large Street Block Group (LSBG) refers to a group of Street Blocks (SBs)
which had at least 1 000 persons in the 2011 Population Census. The
“Tertiary Planning Unit / Street Block (TPU/SB) system” is devised and
used by the Planning Department for town planning purpose. SBs vary in
size (in terms of the number of residents). In order to safeguard the
confidentiality of data relating to individual persons and households and
for precision reason, adjacent SBs are grouped into SB groups (i.e. LSBG)
by this department for data dissemination. The coverage of TPU/SBs within
LSBGs can be identified through their group names. For instance, LSBG
"111/01-02 & 111/37-38" comprises four TPU/SBs, namely
"111/01","111/02","111/37" and "111/38".
Digital boundary data of TPU/SB of Hong Kong are not under the purview of
this Department. If you would like to obtain the digital boundary data
of TPU/SB of Hong Kong, you may contact the Planning Department direct
([1]http://www.pland.gov.hk/pland_en/contact...).
