Hong Kong Data on Hotel Quarantinees Who Test Positive

Colleen Tarrant made this Freedom of Information request to Food and Health Bureau

We're waiting for Colleen Tarrant to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Food and Health Bureau,

I believe that Hong Kong should keep everyone safe from COVID. However, decisions about quarantines (length of time and location) should be based on data. The current 21 day quarantine went into effect in December. I'm sure you're keeping excellent data regarding positive COVID cases, so we should have almost 3 month of data around the 21 day quarantine. I would like access to data regarding:

1. People in quarantine testing positive: what day of quarantine they test positive (for example, day 9 of quarantine), what date (for example, 01 March 2021) and what hotel they were staying at (for example, Airport Regal).

Hong Kong is the only country with a 21 day quarantine. This extreme decision should be based on actual Hong Kong data and I would like to see it. Keeping people isolated in a small hotel room for an extended period of time is drastic and negatively impacts them emotionally and financially and it needs to be justified with data. Please show me the data.

Yours faithfully,
C. Tarrant
P.S. I am sending this to the Food and Health Bureau because I noticed that a Dr. Simon Wang sent a similar request to the Department of Health and they replied saying they were forwarding it to FHB.
