The request was partially successful.

Dear Census and Statistics Department,

I see the data on the 'working population' from the 2021 Population Census by Large Subunit Groups (LSUGs). See https://portal.csdi.gov.hk/geoportal/#me.... The working population data is also breakdown into occupations

I am not sure whether it stands for the working population living in the corresponding LSUG or working there.

If it means the working population living there, is there any data that could represent the number of employees (or employment/job opportunities) by Large Subunit Groups (LSUGs)?

Yours faithfully,
Xinying TAN

Dear TAN,

Please be informed that the statistical information on the working
population by Large Subunit Groups (LSUGs) in the excel file
“LSUG_21.xlsx” available under the item “2021 Population Census Statistics
(By Large Subunit Group)” on the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure is
referring to the working population residing in corresponding LSUGs
according to the results of the 2021 Population Census (21C).

Regarding your request for the number of employees by LSUGs, please refer
to the attached statistical table “Table_IDDS.xlsx”, which are generated
from the Interactive Data Dissemination Service (IDDS) on the 21C Website
(Link : [1]https://idds.census2021.gov.hk/app/idds....) based on the
results of the 21C.  It should be noted that the statistics in Table 1 are
also referring to the working population residing in corresponding LSUGs.

Table 1: Working population by Economic Activity Status and Large Subunit
Group, 2021
Table 2: Working population by Place of Work and Economic Activity Status,
2021

IDDS is a service which enables the public to build and customise their
own statistical tables online with data of population census/by-census.
By using a web browser, you may build your own statistical tables or
various types of charts easily with statistics and classifications you
desire.  You are recommended to try the IDDS and a demonstration video on
how to use the IDDS is available from the following link
([2]https://www.census2021.gov.hk/en/build_t...).

Besides, the statistical information about the working population by place
of work (LSUG) is not readily available.  You are welcome to write an
email to [email address] specifying your data requirements.  If the
required statistics are not readily available, we will study your
requirements and may specially compiled the statistics for you at a
charge, subject to the consideration of statistical precision and data
confidentiality.

Should you have any questions about population censuses/by-censuses,
please feel free to contact Demographic Statistics Section (2) of this
department (Enquiry service: (852) 3903 6944; Facsimile: (852) 2716 0231;
