Measures to monitor and encourage school teachers to take Covid-19 shots

Simon Wang made this Freedom of Information request to Education Bureau

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Sir/Madam,
As the government rolls out Covid-19 vaccination programme towards the goal of herd immunity, I have the following questions for the Education Bureau to answer under the Code on Access to Information:

1. Does the Bureau collect information on the number of staff members who have been inoculated in government-sponsored schools in HK?
2. What measures does the Bureau take to encourage teachers and staff at government-sponsored schools to take the shots?

While the Bureau is expected to answer the questions in 21 days, I hope this request can be addressed more promptly. In addition, I'd take the opportunity to urge the Bureau to monitor the progress of vaccination among teachers and school staff in HK and take concrete measures to encourage the staff to take shots as soon as possible so our city can recover from the pandemic.

Yours faithfully,
Simon Wang

Dear Dr Wang,
Code on Access to Information
Application No. 15/2021
I refer to your application under the Code on Access to Information
received on 16 March 2021.  Please find our reply as follows:

(1)        Since the Education Bureau (EDB) did not collect information on
the number of school staff received vaccination, the acquired information
is not in our possession.  We are unable to provide such information to
you.

(2)   The Secretary for the Civil Service announced on 8 March 2021 the
expansion of the priority groups under the Vaccination Programme in
accordance with the proposed framework on priority of vaccination by Joint
Scientific Committees.  Teachers and school staff have been included as
priority groups to receive COVID-19 vaccines.  The EDB issued a letter to
schools on COVID-19 vaccination programme arrangements for teachers and
school staff on 10 March 2021.  All teachers and school staff are
encouraged to get vaccinated to protect themselves, their families and the
Hong Kong community as a whole.  For details, please refer to the
