I would be grateful if you could provide the number of minor children currently residing in Hong Kong who either (i) arrived with parents who filed torture or non-refoulement claims upon arrival in Hong Kong or (ii) were born in Hong Kong to parents who had pending torture or non-refoulement claims.

Thank you for your email dated 6 June 2019 seeking access to information
relating to statistics on non-refoulement claims.

 

Further to our interim reply of 13 June 2019, please be informed that as
at end May 2019, there were 931 persons under the age of 18 in Hong Kong
who had lodged non-refoulement claims and pending determination of the
claims, appeal on their rejected claims or removal from Hong Kong. 

 

Kindly note that further breakdown as requested is not available. For more
statistics on non-refoulement claims, please refer to the website of the
