Non-refoulement claims no longer considered to be substantiated

Annie Li made this Freedom of Information request to Immigration Department

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Immigration Department,

I am writing to request if any of the non-refoulement claims once listed as substantiated on your webpage https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/facts/enforc... are no longer listed as such. If so, I would like to know the number of such claims and the nationality of each of the claimants. I would also like to know the reasons for no longer considering the claims to be substantiated.

Yours faithfully,
Annie Li

Dear Ms Li,

I refer to your email dated 9 August 2018 requesting for information
relating to non-refoulement claims and our acknowledgement dated 10 August
2018.

The number of substantiated non-refoulement claims and respective
nationality breakdown are uploaded to “Statistics on Non-refoulement
Claim” in the official webpage of the Immigration Department
([1]https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/facts/enforc...) on a quarterly
basis.  Kindly note that as denoted at the relevant table on the webpage,
the list covers all non-refoulement claims substantiated since 2009.  It
reflects fully the nationality breakdown and no claim would be removed
from the list.

We hope you will find the above information useful.
