Refugee crime statistics for Western District
Dear Hong Kong Police Force Western District,
Can you please provide data on arrest statistics of refugees (non-refoulement claimants). Specifically I would like the most complete yearly statistics of refugees arrests from your district for every full year you have data going back to 2005, plus total arrest statistics from the same time period to put it into context. If you have a breakdown of prosecution and conviction rates that would be useful too.
On top of total numbers, if you have the nationalities of the refugees arrested please provide that information. I’m happy to take digital files if that’s easier, but please attach PDFs as I can't view information in tabular form in the email .

Please be informed that we do not have information on crime statistics
relating to refugees.
As Refugees (non-refoulement claimants) are processed by the Immigration
Department, your application may need to refer to the Immigration
Department for follow up. According to para. 1.14 of the Code on Access to
Information, " consent from the applicant should preferably be sought
before transferring his request to the department concerned ", therefore I
should be grateful if you would give us your consent before the
transferral.

Please find the yearly statistics of Form 8 holders arrested in Western
Police District, their nationalities and the total arrest statistics in the
file as attached. Please be informed that our data for Form 8 holders
could only be retrieved up to 2008 only. We do not maintain the statistics
on the prosecution and conviction rates so no information could be
provided.

" It is noted that the writer is asking for the arrest,
prosecution and conviction statistics of the Police with regard to
a particular District. Notwithstanding that they are said to be
in connection with non-refoulement claimants, Immigration
Department does not maintain such statistics."
