Request for Traffic Flow Census 2001-2020 & Road Network 2001-2020
Dear Transport Department,
I am a research assistant at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and I am working on a project on land use in the past 20 years. I would like to make a request on the Traffic Flow Census and Road Network, from the year 2001 to 2020.
The format of data for Annual Traffic Census should be the same as https://data.gov.hk/en-data/dataset/hk-t... , consisting of xls files recording the hourly traffic distribution at some stations. Since the data for 2015 and 2019 are publicly available, only that from 2001-2013, 2016-2017 and 2020 is needed.
The Road Network should be in the same format of that in data.gov, https://data.gov.hk/en-data/dataset/hk-t... .
Yours faithfully,
Sha Yu Hin

Dear Mr Sha,
I refer to your email dated 16.9.2021. Further to our interim reply on
30.9.2021 providing part of the requested information, our reply is as
follows.
The retrieved files for the Years from 2002 to 2009 is attached. The
files provided below are GIS files instead of GML as considerable effort
is required for generating the GML files which do not exist. According to
para. 1.14 of the Code on Access to Information, "The Code does not oblige
departments....create a record which does not exist". Therefore, GIS
files for the Years from 2002 to 2009 are provided instead. Meanwhile,
file of the Year of 2001 is not available.
If you have any enquiry, please contact Mr Paul LIU at 3842 6278.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Dorothy Chim
for Commissioner for Transport
Dear Ms. Chim and Mr Liu,
Thank you. I have looked into the files and they should be sufficient.
On the other hand, I do have one other request. The ATC 2015 (appendix B), which was previously available through the link https://www.td.gov.hk/datagovhk/traffic-..., is now a redirect and so the file is no longer downloadable. As my local copy has been accidentally deleted, I would like to request for this file, or have the link fixed so that it is downloadable again.
My apologies for making so many further requests.
Many thanks,
Sha Yu Hin
Dear Ms Chim,
I am writing to inform you that I have recovered the 2015 ATC data I mentioned in the last email, so there is no need to send that to me.
I believe I have collected all the ATC data I need for this request. Thank you for your and Mr Liu's kind assistance throughout this request.
Yours sincerely,
Sha Yu Hin
Dear Mr Sha,
