Request of full report on ethnic minorities in Hong Kong
Dear Census and Statistics Department,
I found a press release (link provided at the bottom of this request) on the website of your department stating some findings of a survey released on 2 Jan 2001, with a name "Survey on ethnic minorities in Hong Kong". It is very related and helpful to my project, but the link to the full report provided by the press release is not valid.
Could you send me the full report of this survey?
If the survey has been conducted again, or if there is any similar ones focusing on ethnic minorities in HK, I would be very grateful if you can send all these reports to me together!
Here is a link to the press release page on the website of Census and Statistics Department:

Thanks!
Yours faithfully,
Ellen He
Dear Ellen,
I refer to your request for survey reports relating to ethnic minorities
in Hong Kong, made under the Code on Access to Information on 10 October
2017. Our reply is provided below.
(1) Report on Survey on ethnic minorities in Hong Kong released on 2
January 2001
The abridged version of the full report has been incorporated in the
"Thematic Household Survey (THS) Report No. 4", which can be obtained at
the link below:
[1]http://www.statistics.gov.hk/pub/B113020.... Meanwhile,
we are contacting Home Affairs Bureau, which is the owner of the full
report concerned, to see whether the report can be retrieved and will
reply to you the outcome in due course.
You may wish to note the limitations of the survey results presented in
the THS report as contacting and interviewing persons belonging to the
ethnic minorities proved difficult in some cases and this might have
caused them to be under-represented in the survey. The survey estimates of
the actual sizes of the various ethnic minority groups in Hong Kong should
thus be treated with caution.
(2) 2001, 2006 and 2011 Population Census/By-census thematic report on
ethnic minorities
Hong Kong 2001 Population Census Thematic Report - Ethnic Minorities
(Link : [2]http://www.statistics.gov.hk/pub/B112003...)
Hong Kong 2006 Population By-census Thematic Report : Ethnic Minorities
(Link : [3]http://www.statistics.gov.hk/pub/B112005...)
2011 Population Census - Thematic Report : Ethnic Minorities
(Link : [4]http://www.census2011.gov.hk/pdf/EM.pdf)
It is an established practice since 1961 for Hong Kong to conduct a
population census once every ten years, and a by-census in the middle of
the intercensal period. Should you have any questions about population
census / by-census, please feel free to contact Demographic Statistics
Section (2) of this department (Enquiry service: (852) 3903 6944;
Facsimile: (852) 2716 0231; E-mail: [5][email address]).
(3) 2016 Population By-census thematic report on ethnic minorities
Statistics relevant to ethnicity for the year of 2016 could be provided
according to the results of the 2016 Population By-census (16BC). A 16BC
thematic report on "Ethnic Minorities" will be available tentatively by
end-2017. Meanwhile, you may visit the 16BC website
([6]www.bycensus2016.gov.hk/en/index.html) for the statistics of the 16BC
released so far. For example, statistics on population by ethnicity,
2006, 2011 and 2016 could now be obtained from Main Table A104 on the 16BC
website.
The latest news on the release of 16BC figures will be posted on the 16BC
website. Should you have any questions about the 16BC, please feel free
to contact the 16BC Office of this department (Enquiry service: (852) 3547
1800; Facsimile: (852) 3547 1894; E-mail: [email address]).

Dear Census and Statistics Department,
Thank you very much for your detailed reply!
The abridged version of the full report is helpful! But if you later get any information from Home Affairs Bureau on the full report, please let me know as soon as possible.
To make it clear, this exact survey – Survey on ethnic minorities in Hong Kong – or a survey merely focusing on the ethnic groups hasn't been conducted after the one in 2001, which I mentioned in previous email , right?
Yours faithfully,
Ellen He
Dear Ellen,
I refer to your further enquiry on surveys relating to ethnic minorities
in Hong Kong made on 28 October 2017. Our reply is provided below.
(1) Home Affairs Bureau, which is the owner of the full report concerned,
has replied that the full report cannot be retrieved. For further
enquiries regarding the said report, you may contact Home Affairs Bureau
direct (Tel: (852) 3509 8095, Email: [1][email address] ).
(2) Besides the Survey on ethnic minorities in Hong Kong conducted in
1999/2000, the Census and Statistics Department has not conducted
dedicated survey covering all ethnic minorities in Hong Kong since then.
The information of ethnic minorities is mainly obtained from population
censuses/by-censuses thereafter.
