Environmental Protection Department

Dear Ms Allyson van de Pol,

I refer to your application under the Code on Access to Information dated
16 August 2021 for the latest air quality monitoring data in Hong Kong.

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) operates a network of air
quality monitoring stations for measuring the concentrations of criteria
air pollutants in Hong Kong continuously.  The validated hourly averages
of air pollutant concentration data recorded at our air quality monitoring
stations, namely nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, ozone, fine suspended
particulates, respirable suspended particulates (RSP), sulphur dioxide and
carbon monoxide, can be freely downloaded from the Environmental
Protection Interactive Centre (EPIC) at
[1]https://cd.epic.epd.gov.hk/EPICDI/air/.

Other than the criteria air pollutants, EPD also regularly collects Toxic
Air Pollutants (TAPs) samples at Central/Western, Tsuen Wan and Kwai Chung
air quality monitoring stations and RSP samples at Central/Western, Kwun
Tong, Sham Shui Po, Kwai Chung, Tsuen Wan, Tung Chung, Yuen Long, Mongkok,
Tuen Mun, Tseung Kwan O air quality monitoring stations for chemical
analysis.  The latest information on the monitoring list of chemical
analysis for TAPs and RSP samples can be found at their annual statistical
summaries on the following URLs.

Toxic Air Pollutants (TAPs)
[2]https://www.aqhi.gov.hk/en/sub-download/...

Airborne Species Concentrations Derived from RSP
[3]https://www.aqhi.gov.hk/en/download/air-...

As the raw data for all criteria air pollutants in the latest months are
still undergoing validation processes according to our Quality
Assurance/Quality Control requirements, the validated hourly data for all
criteria air pollutants are available up to May 2021 on the EPIC website
above.  The validated data up to June 2021 and up to end-2021 will be
available around September 2021 and March 2022 respectively.

TAPs data are published on a yearly basis and are currently available up
to 2019.  The data for 2020 and after will be posted on the website when
available.

For airborne species concentrations derived from RSP, the annual averages
and daily data collected at our air quality monitoring network are
published on a yearly basis and are currently available up to 2020.  As
chemical analysis for the latest RSP samples are being arranged, a full
set of 2021 data is expected to be available in mid 2022.

If you have any further enquiries, please feel free to contact me at
[email address].

Regards,

Teresa FUNG
