Dear Immigration Department,

I am writing to make a data access request regarding the number of incidents of self-harm at Ma Tau Kok Detention Centre. May I know, in each of the years between 2010 and 2021,

A) The number of incidents of self-harm

B) The number of suicides and suicide attempts

If a CSV or Excel format is possible, I would greatly appreciate it.

Dear Gigi Lo,
I refer to your request for access to information on 13.12.2021 and our
interim reply to you on the 20.12.2021. I hereby provide you with the
following information.

(A) There is no recorded case of self-harm incident involving detainees at
the Ma Tau Kok Detention Centre (“MTKDC”) from 1 September to 31 October
2021.  The Immigration Department (“ImmD”) does not maintain the relevant
statistics before September 2021.

(B) Between 2010 and 31 October 2021, there is one suicide death case
involving a detainee at the MTKDC in 2019.  The ImmD does not maintain
other relevant statistics.
