Smoking in restricted area data

Rob Davidson made this Freedom of Information request to Hong Kong Police Force

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Hong Kong Police Force,

I note that Hong Kong police officers are empowered to issue fixed penalty notices and summonses in cases where persons are smoking illegally e.g. in restricted areas.

I also note that this activity is not documented in the crime statistics issued by Hong Kong Police Force. I finally note that there is an online form provided by Hong Kong Police Force for making objections to fixed penalty notices.

Please would you provide, the statistical data for the past 5 years for:

1) the number and type of smoking offences recorded by Hong Kong Police officers and the associated action e.g. fixed penalty notices, summonses, cautions etc
2) the number of objections to smoking related fixed penalty notices
3) the number of smoking related fixed penalty notices that are upheld after objection

Many thanks for your time taken in this matter.

Yours faithfully,

Rob Davidson
