Dear Mr Lee,

Thank you for your email on 25 October 2018 to the University Grants
Committee (UGC).  

The Government and the UGC adopt a triennial planning cycle in determining
the recurrent funding for the eight UGC-funded universities.  The UGC's
recommended allocation of liberal studies first-year-first-degree intakes
of teacher education programmes for 2016/17 to 2018/19 triennium are as
follows:-

2016/17 2017/18 2018/19
Hong Kong Baptist University* 24 24 24
The Chinese University of Hong Kong 10 10 10
The University of Hong Kong 10 10 10

* included student places for Personal, Social & Humanities Education

According to the Notes on Procedures of the UGC, while the universities
should adhere as far as possible to the total numbers approved in the
academic and funding cycle, the UGC provides for flexibility in
under-enrollment and over-enrollment in general having regard to actual
circumstances.  The actual student enrollment of different programmes in
different academic years can be obtained from the UGC's website :
