HKSAR Identity Card and Travel Document with Mononym Name

Currently waiting for a response from Immigration Department, they should respond promptly and normally no later than (details).

Dear Immigration Department,

I am writing to inquire about residents with mononym names (i.e. name consists of just one part, there is no last/first name). Mononym names are common in some parts of the world, including in particular, Mongols with Chinese nationality. Here are my questions:

1) Does any regulation or law prevent the use of mononym in application for Identity Card or HKSAR passports?

If the answer for (1) is no:

2) What are the ImmD guidelines for mononym names? What steps would an applicant need, if any, for mononym names on top of the usual Identity Card or Passport applications? Does ImmD discourage the use of mononym names?

3) Are there any extra features on Identity Card or HKSAR passport in relation to the holder's mononym name? (e.g. an extra observationon their HKSAR passport)

4) Share the number of Permanent HKID, non-Permanent HKID, HKSAR passports, and Document of Identity for Visa Purposes issued with mononym names for the last 10 years.

Regards,
Claxton
