Terms and Conditions for the Use of the Travel Characteristics Survey 2011 Database 
 
The   user   of   the   Travel   Characteristics   Survey  20
 
11  Database   (hereafter   referred   to   as  “the 
database”) agrees to abide by the following terms and conditions for the use of  the database: 
 
1.
The user shall   use  the  database solely for the  purpose as   specified  in   his   request.     The 
database shall  not   be used  for any   other purposes without prior consent   from  the  Chief 
Engineer/Transport Planning of Transport Department. 
 
2.
The   database  shall   be   used   only   for   providing   reference   information   on   the   travel 
characteristics of the people in Hong Kong on a normal weekday in  2011  
.
 
3.
The   data   were   collected   in  2011   and   the   travel   characteristics  of   the   people  in   Hong 
Kong   will   inevitably   change   as   a   result   of   land   use   developments,   implementation   of 
transport   infrastructur  
e  projects,   and   other   socio-economic   changes   taken   place   since
2 011.     The user shall exercise care and caution when interpreting information from the 
database. 
 
4.
When   using   and   interpreting  information  from   the   database,   the   user   shall   give   due 
consideration   to   the   sampling   framework   and   data   expansion   methodology   adopted   for 
producing   the   database   because   such   framework   and   methodology   may   impose 
limitations on the collected information. 
 
5.
The   user  is   reminded   that   the   database   should   be   used   for   comprehensive   statistical 
analysis only and the info in the database should be interpreted on an aggregated basis. 
 
6.
The   Transport   Planning   Division   of   Transport   Department   shall   not   be   responsible   for 
installing the database onto the user’s computer system or providing any training on the 
use of the database. 
 
7.
The   Transport   Planning   Division   of   Transport   Department   gives   no   warranty   that   the 
database   is   error-free   or   can   be   processed   on   the   user’s   computer   system,   and   the 
Government   shall  in   no  way be held   responsible  for any loss or damage which  may be 
suffered by the user or any other person as a result of using the database.
