I am writing to make a data access request about complaints received by the Immigration Department. May I know, for each of the years between 2020 – 2022:

1) The total number of complaints received by the Immigration Department
2) Number of complaints received in relation to immigration detention at MTKDC
3) Number of complaints received in relation to immigration detention at CIC
4) Nature / type of the above-mentioned complaints
5) Outcome of the above-mentioned complaints
6) Follow up actions taken in response to the above-mentioned complaints

 Further to our interim replies of 29 December 2022 and 6 January 2023,
our reply is provided as below.

The numbers of complaints made to the Immigration Department (“ImmD”) from
2020 to 2022 are tabulated below:

While the case nature and follow up actions taken in respect of the above
cases are not maintained, the outcomes of the complaints are set out

in relation to immigration detention at Ma Tau Kok Detention Centre
(“MTKDC”) and at Castle Peak Bay Immigration Centre (“CIC”) from 2020 to

These complaints received in relation to MTKDC and CIC are mainly about
services, treatment and welfare, facilities and equipment provided as well
