Dear Sir/Madam
This request of information under the Code on Access to Information is intended for Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong under the leadership of the bureau. Please pass this message to Mr. Sidney CHAN and relay his reply via the email address provided.

In connection to my request of information addressing Food and Bureau regarding the same issue https://accessinfo.hk/en/request/quarant... I am writing to discuss a scenario that Mr Sidney Chan may have encountered or could have to deal with in the near future although I hope our discussion remains hypothetical. Given that HK residents visiting the Mainland have to be quarantined for 21 days, we have to think carefully about the cases in which some people cannot afford the time to isolate. For example, a person may visit Guangdong to see his/her close relatives on their deathbeds or to attend a funeral or to take care of family members in an accident.

Of course this matter has to be decided by the Mainland authorities. My question is about whether the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong could offer support to HK residents who have found themselves in such unfortunate situations. Here are my questions for Mr. Sidney CHAN to answer under the Code on Access to Information:

1. As far as you know, does the Guangdong authorities consider the application for exemption from quanratine from HK residents on humanitarian grounds? If so please provide details.

2. Did the office led by Mr Chan discuss this matter with the Guangdong offices? Please provide relevant info if available. If no information can be provided due to confidentiality, please simply answer yes or no.

3. In what ways could the office led by Mr Chan provide help to HK residents in such situation described above?

4. Did the office led by Mr Chan receive any request for help related to such situation. If no information can be provided due to confidentiality, please simply answer yes or no.

Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter.

Yours faithfully,
Simon Wang
