I would like to request digital geographic data regarding land use distributions over all of Hong Kong. This would include data on locations with residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and natural (undeveloped) land cover.

I would like to conduct the research about the Spatial Correlation between Type of Land Use. The reference link for the potential research topic is attached in the following link for your reference. The research data is used for academic only.
https://www.researchgate.net/publication...

The publication states that to obtain the data for the study, "the land distribution of Hong Kong was requested from the Hong Kong Planning Department."

Yours faithfully,
Gary Chan

Freedom of Information request - Shapefile of Hong Kong Land Use
Distribution 2018

I refer to your request received on 15.4.2019.

2.        Please note that the latest Land Utilization in Hong Kong (LUHK)
2018, which shows the broad land use distribution, including residential,
commercial, industrial, agricultural, and some natural land covers, of
Hong Kong, is now being prepared by the Planning Department (PlanD).
According to the Annual Open Data Plan promulgated by PlanD in December
2018, raster grid (in GeoTiff format) of the coming LUHK and the relevant
statistics will be released as open data to the general public in the
third quarter of 2019.  By then you will be able to download the open data
via Public Sector Information (PSI) Portal ([1]https://data.gov.hk) or the
PlanD website ([2]https://www.pland.gov.hk).

Dear Planning Department,
Thank You for your response. I would like to request the shapefile of the land use. The data for the request of Mr. Brett Morgan [your file ref: (41/18) in TS I/AI/1 Pt. 61] is what I need. The request period from launching the request to data distribution (about 1 month) is reasonable. I would be grateful if you could handle my case as the previous successful case.

Yours faithfully,

Gary Chan

Mr. Gary CHAN,

Re: Internal review of Freedom of Information request - Shapefile of Hong
Kong Land Use Distribution 2018

I refer to your email dated 26.4.2019.

2.        In the above email you requested shapefile of the land use,
which you said is the data for the request of Mr. Brett Morgan.  However,
according to our record, the dataset provided to Mr. Brett Morgan is not
of shapefile format.  Would you please instead specify what data format of
the land use you actually want for your academic research?

3.        I note that your email address is connected to a website on
which all correspondence is published.  Therefore, I should be grateful if
you could let me have your personal email so that I can give you the data
you request direct upon your clarification of the data format please.
 Thank you very much.

Dear Planning Department,
I am grateful to receive your response. According to your colleague reply for Mr. Brett Morgan request, the dataset should be the input for preparing the paper map of Land Utilization in Hong Kong and It is the geo-referenced dataset. It is ideal if the ESRI shapefile(.shp) data format or a file geodatabase (*.gdb) is available.

Thank you again for your help and you can contact me at [email address]
Yours faithfully,

Gary Chan

Dear Mr. CHAN,

In the meantime, please contact me at 22314761 if you have any enquiry.
