Water testing for mercury in Hong Kong
Dear Water Supplies Department,
I would like to know if you doing any testing for mercury levels in Hong Kong drinking or river/reservoir water, and if so can I have data on this. Particularly what are your guidelines and thresholds, what are the mean levels, and how many samples have failed your tests.

WSD monitors the quality of water as supplied to consumers for compliance
with the Hong Kong Drinking Water Standards, currently being the
respective guideline values or provisional guideline values of individual
parameters including mercury listed in the 4th edition of the World Health
Organization Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality published in 2011. The
annual statistics of the testing results are published on WSD’s website
for public access. For the latest water quality data, please refer to the

WSD also monitors water quality of Dongjiang water received at Muk Wu
Pumping Station for compliance with the national standard set out for Type
II waters (applicable to the abstraction for human consumption in first
class protection area) in the “Environmental Quality Standards for Surface
Water GB3838-2002”. The annual statistics of the testing results are
published on WSD’s website for public access. For the latest water quality
