Dear Department of Health,

I am requesting information about the spread and transmission of Covid-19 variants (eg delta, alpha, gamma, beta, omicron, etc).

I am specifically inquiring about which group of people (vaccinated or unvaccinated) are the cause of, or are the biggest transmitter of these variant Covid-19 strains. Hence, can you give me the number (a breakdown) of the unvaccinated people that have been found in Hong Kong to have these variants, compared with the number of vaccinated people that have been found in Hong Kong to have these variants.

The reason for asking is to clarify the information coming from the local media, which state that only vaccinated people have or are spreading the Covid-19 variants. And therefore vaccinated people should more likely have restrictions placed upon them as vaccinated people are actually causing the spread and transmission of these and likely ALL future variants.

Vaccinated, in this instance, means having received either 1 or both of the recommended covid-19 vaccines recommended or accepted by the HKGOV.

Yours faithfully,

Scott Mackenzie
