The request was successful.

Dear Hong Kong Observatory staff,

I made a Code on Access to Information request to the Environmental Protection Department https://accessinfo.hk/en/request/monitor... EDP suggests the HKO may have the answer to the following question:
In what ways does the department monitor the amount of radioactive
particles in sea water in Hong Kong?

Please kindly process this request of info under the Code on Access to Information. Thanks in advance.

Yours faithfully,
Simon Wang

W.H. Leung, Hong Kong Observatory

Dear Dr. Wang,

Thank you for your email dated 6 May 2021.

The Hong Kong Observatory routinely monitors the environmental radiation
levels in Hong Kong, including measuring the radiation levels in local sea
water.  Each quarter, with the assistance from the Environmental
Protection Department, sea water is sampled over the coastal waters of
Hong Kong at three depths – the upper level (2.5 metres underneath the
surface), the middle level (equidistant from the surface and the seabed)
and the lower level (2.5 metres above the seabed).  Measurements of
artificial radionuclides are carried out for the collected samples by the
Hong Kong Observatory.  The measurement results are available at the
Observatory's website.

Best regards,

(W.H. Leung)
for Director of the Hong Kong Observatory
