Information about foreign practices/cases used as benchmarking of the carbon calculator

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

We're waiting for Yoyo Yu to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear Environmental Protection Department,

We are a group of year 3 students from Hong Kong Baptist University, who have registered for a course coded GCAP3056 “Taking a stand: Engaging in Public Discourse through Advanced Research and Writing”. We take it as an opportunity to explore the social issues and finally we choose the theme “achieving carbon neutrality in Hong Kong” as our semester project and “Low Carbon Living Calculator” is what we want to focus on. We sincerely hope that you could assist us on the project by providing relevant information.

A. Information about foreign practices/cases used as benchmarking
According to our research, some countries have also launched websites that share similar nature with “Carbon Footprint Calculator of Hong Kong (CFCHK)”. We are interested in if you have cooperated with other foreign organizations to develop the software and have you referred to any foreign cases as benchmarking.

Questions are sorted as follows:
1. Has the government conducted any evaluation on how the carbon calculator influence people’s behaviors and help the city reduce carbon footprint? If so, please provide details.
2. Has the government compared HK’s carbon calculator with similar products from other countries or cities? If so, please provide more info.

Thank you so much for your time, and please kindly reply at your earliest convenience.

Yours faithfully,
Yoyo Yu, Phoebe Leung, Betty Wang, Krystal Huang
