Refugee crime statistics for New Territories South Region

Scott Edmunds made this Freedom of Information request to Hong Kong Police Force New Territories South Region

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

Hong Kong Police Force New Territories South Region did not have the information requested.

Dear Hong Kong Police Force New Territories South Region,

Can you please provide data on arrest statistics of refugees (non-refoulement claimants). Specifically I would like:

1. The most complete yearly statistics of refugee arrests from New Territories South Region for every full year you have data going back to 2005, plus your total arrest statistics from the same time period to put that data into into context.

2. From this data, if you have breakdowns on how many of the refugees were arrested for immigration offences, employment offences, and violent crimes, that will be helpful as well.

3.. If you have a breakdown of prosecution and conviction rates that would be useful too.

4. On top of total numbers, if you have the nationalities of the refugees arrested that information would be useful as well.

For all of this I’m happy to take digital files if that’s easier, but please don’t send this information in tabular form in the email as I can’t view it. Attaching a PDF, or emailing other files to me (I can provide an email address ) would work best in this case.

Yours faithfully,

Scott Edmunds

Hong Kong Police Force New Territories South Region

Dear Mr. Edmunds,

I refer to your email dated 11 September 2016 below.

2. Please note that the Police do not have yearly statistics of refugee
(non-refoulement claimant) arrests from New Territories South Region.

Regards,
Danny Sung
RSEO NTS
