Migrant domestic worker visas
Dear Immigration Department,
I had a couple of questions on domestic migrant worker visa (applications).
Firstly, do you have any numbers on how many people applied for the migrant domestic worker visa (ID998A) each year, and how many entered Hong Kong with this visa. Could I have the data from the last ten years (2012-2022)?
Secondly, do you have any numbers on how many visa’s got cancelled because of the death of the worker? Could I also have the data on this from the last ten years (2012-2022)?
Thirdly, do you have any data on the categorization per country? For example, how many visas out of the total canceled visa due to mortality are from Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia respectively? I was wondering if you have any data collected on this.
Thank you so much for your answers. Looking forward to seeing the data!
Dear Nina Guiljam,
I refer to your email of 17 November 2022.
In order to enable us to proceed with your request, please clarify on or
before 24 November 2022:
(i) whether you are seeking the information and statistics on visa for
foreign domestic helpers (ID 988A) instead of migrant domestic worker visa
(ID998A); and
(ii) whether you have submitted duplicate request to us on 17 November
2022 as two requests, with the same email content, were received by us.
